Illinois’ Five-Year Economic Plan

Wednesday, April 17th

10:00am-11:30am

This is an online event

Every five years, the Governor and Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) are required to develop a new five-year economic development plan. It serves as a “north star” for Illinois elected leaders to move the state forward.

The IMA is hosting a virtual program on April 17 from 10:00am-11:30am to hear directly from Illinois’ top economic development officials. They will share current ideas under consideration and ask for your feedback. What policies and goals should the state pursue to make Illinois a better place for job creators?

Here are examples of items included in the state’s last five-year plan:

  • Creation of new world-class manufacturing academies (IMA suggestion led to creation of two academies)
  • Innovation vouchers
  • Extension of the R & D tax credit (IMA suggestion that was enacted)
  • Angel Investor tax credit expansion

Please plan on joining us for this important program so that you can hear about plans and offer suggestions. Some of the items that are part of the current discussion include:

  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Next generation agriculture and food manufacturing
  • Bioprocessing and biofuels
  • Quantum computing
  • Clean energy

This is your chance to speak directly to state leaders who are crafting the next five-year economic development plan.
