Funds help students pursuing careers in manufacturing

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Manufacturers’ Association (IMA) Education Foundation is proud to announce the 2023 recipient of the Lynne Mohr Scholarship for Skilled Trades Students, which was established to provide financial assistance to students pursuing careers in the skilled trades.

This year’s scholarship recipient is Kenneth Rosales of Romeoville. A student at the College of DuPage, Rosales is studying construction management.

The scholarship is named in honor of former Brite-O-Matic Manufacturing, Inc. President Lynne Mohr, whose dedication to the manufacturing industry was widely known through her philanthropy and service on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association. Mohr worked at Brite-O-Matic, the specialty car wash systems manufacturer founded by her father William Gasser, from age 14 through her retirement in 2018. The endowment for the scholarship was funded through the IMA Education Foundation and fundraising bike rides completed by Mohr’s cousin George Maurer, a Minneapolis adventure bicyclist.

An award of up to $1,000 was available to Illinois residents currently enrolled in an Illinois institution of higher education and studying in a skilled trade related field.

“Congratulations to Kenneth, who has worked hard and overcome many challenges to pursue his education goals and prepare himself for an exciting and fulfilling career. The Illinois Manufacturers’ Association and the IMA Education Foundation are proud to help him achieve his dreams as we continue our efforts to build a strong and skilled workforce,” said Sarah Hartwick, Vice President of Education and Workforce Development and Executive Director of the IMA Education Foundation. “Supporting students on their journey will help ensure Lynne Mohr’s legacy of advocacy and philanthropy will be carried on for years to come.”
