Dan Steen works with the IMA in Washington, DC, in support of membership development and engagement. He brings over 30 years of experience working in corporate advocacy and association management.
At consumer packaging manufacturer Owens-Illinois, Dan led the company’s global government affairs program. During his 20 years at O-I, Dan worked at all levels of government. His state issue management experience included work in a diverse group of states, including Illinois, California, Colorado, Maryland, Ohio, Oregon, Texas and Virginia. With O-I’s Illinois roots and its strong manufacturing presence in the state, Dan ensured O-I is an active member of the IMA.
Dan has substantial experience in building industry coalitions on diverse issues, including environmental regulations, tax policy, packaging regulation, legal reform and recycling. He has held several leadership roles in the Glass Packaging Institute, including chair of the board of trustees and the government relations committee. Dan led the National Association of Manufacturers’ National Public Affairs Steering Committee and its Key Vote Advisory Committee. He also served for over a decade as chair of the NAM’s legal affairs committee.
Dan is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and received his BA in political science and history from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
