Last year, the Illinois General Assembly passed legislation that will help move Illinois forward though investment in new 5G wireless service and new technologies (Internet of Things, smart cities) that will benefit the manufacturing sector and other employers. Nearly a dozen other states have passed similar legislation that encourages new innovative technology and faster networks. In today’s world, technology changes very rapidly and job creators must stay on the cutting edge to compete. If signed into law, Illinois will also see nearly $8.9 billion in capital investment and support for 100,000 jobs.
IMA members are encouraged to call the Governor’s Office (217-782-0244) and ask him to sign SB 1451. This legislation will create jobs and network investment, improve service and innovation, and prepare Illinois for future technology.
