Les Davies has joined the Office of Advocacy as the small business advocate for Region 5. In his new role, Davies will be the direct link between the region’s small business owners, state and local government agencies, state legislators, small business associations and the Office of Advocacy of the U.S. Small Business Administration. SBA Region 5 covers Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
“Les Davies is a wonderful addition to our team,” said Major L. Clark III, Acting Chief Counsel for Advocacy. “Small business owners in the Midwest have an exceptional advocate in Mr. Davies. His experience as a political activist will allow him to immediately start making meaningful contributions to the Office of Advocacy’s role as the small business watchdog for unnecessary and overly burdensome regulations.”
Davies has worked as both a front-line and area manager for facilities management companies Sodexho, Kimco and Knight in his region. For 10 years, Davies also served in the U.S. Naval Reserves as an intelligence specialist.
For the past few years, Davies was the Regional Field Director for the Ohio Republican Party, not only helping to get President Trump elected, but to increase rural voter turnout in his area. Prior to that, Davies was elected as an alternate Delegate to the Republican National Convention during Mitt Romney’s campaign.
Davies studied broadcasting as an undergraduate, eventually earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Brigham Young University. He also did post-graduate work in public administration at Western Michigan University.
Davies is working out of SBA’s Columbus, Ohio office.
