Approval of USMCA Trade Deal is a Victory for Illinois Manufacturers

Agreement will strengthen commerce among U.S. producers, Mexico and Canada

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Manufacturers’ Association (IMA) released the following statement regarding bipartisan approval of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement by the U.S. House of Representatives:

“Trade is critical for Illinois manufacturers and the 592,900 women and men working on factory floors. Ninety-five percent of consumers live outside the United States and manufacturers work hard every day to produce amazing products that are in demand across the world. No trade relationships are more important than with Canada and Mexico, which together imported 40 percent – $27 billion – of Illinois’ exports last year,” said Mark Denzler, president & CEO of the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association. “This agreement will allow for continued trade growth, all while strengthening key partnerships and establishing important protections for American manufacturers.”
